What is Melasma?

Melasma also known as ‘chloasma’ is a common skin condition such as hyperpigmentation, age spots, or any other similar condition. However, this common skin problem shares the same advent such as dark brown and discolored patches which is commonly seen in middle-aged Asians.


What Causes Melasma?

There are few potential triggers that causes Melasma such as sun exposures, changes in hormones during pregnancy, hormonal treatments, consumption of birth control pills, usage of certain skin care products, genetics or antiseizure medications.

These discolored patches often appear in line with matching marks on both sides of your faces. Common areas for Melasma to appear are on your cheeks, forehead, nose bridge, chin and upper lips. These spots may also appear on other parts of your body which are often exposed to the sun.
