What is Subcision?

Subcision is a minor surgical procedure mainly used to treat acne scars. This treatment involves micro-surgical technique that breaks down skin scars that are depressed and tied down within your skin.


How does Subcision treatment work?

Deep acne scars are released and lifted up using a small and fine needle where it will be inserted into your skin to pull the acne scar from the underlying tissues. This process allows the skin in that area to rise and eventually fades the uneven texture of your skin caused by acne scars.

Subcision is commonly used on depressed acne scars, wrinkles and cellulite. This needle insertion only intervenes areas underneath the scar on skin, inciting collagen release at the area of needle insertion.

Subcision treatment has few side effects such as mild swelling, redness and bruising.
You may immediately experience mild redness and swelling right after the treatment, which will subside naturally within two to three days. You may also experience minor bruising right after the procedure at the areas that were treated. However, these bruises will fade in 2 to 10 days depending on the healing process and skin type of a person.
Subcision treatment may require between three to six sessions, with each treatment session scheduled one month away from the last.
